After months of planning, it appears that our journey is about to begin.  Today, after a 20 mile-test-the-equipment (both bike and rider) ride, the emotions were mixed but highly palpable.  Exhilaration about good weather, finely tuned bikes, and a pasta-loaded dinner was mixed with trepidation about our own abilities to make the climb, cover the distance.  The route was discussed numerous times with different combinations of riders, reviewing the elevations and possible rest stops.  Lunches prepared, water bottles filled, chains lubed.  Each rider feeling the apprehension but excited about the morning start.  With a 7 AM departure planned, all retired early to their rooms.  I have full confidence in this group, because no matter the challenge, laughter, encouragement, and a sense of accomplishment will ensue.  See you on the other side of the climb.........
