Today we entered Indiana without fanfare or even a photo. We came across the state line on a country road which apparently wasn't important enough to have a Welcome to Indiana sign. Or maybe we aren't!?
Today was Lisa's day to sag, so Pete and I set off from our hotel on a rather quiet country road. The homes on Main Street were grand and mostly well maintained. While the road surfaces in Illinois seem to be above average, shoulders seem to be a thing of the past. Fortunately, the first half of the route was relatively less traveled. We rode mostly single file. The town of Marshall was rather quaint and all decked out with American flags. Many shops were vacant however, but a large casting plant seemed to employ many people.

Once we merged with US 40, the traffic picked up quite a bit necessitating a few stops in the gravel shoulder to let semis pass. We explored the college town of Terre Haute with it's magnificent courthouse, had lunch at a greek diner and returned to West Terre Haute for our evening's lodging. We were able to secure rooms at the guest house on the campus of St. Mary of the Woods College, a beautiful campus in a wooded setting.

Not much excitement today. Just another great ride with great people!
